Iam not a kilt expert. What i know is: 511 says, they use nylon/cotton ripstop for it

a "proper" kilt (and most tartan) is just some victorian shit made up by the english in their romaticisation of scotland in turning it into a tourist destination. so basically, wear whatever you like, it's about as kilt-like as the "proper" ones.

I've seen them and I have one on order from the next production run.
They are well made and I think I'll enjoy mine. They are along the lines of a Utilikilt, but not as heavy. They aren't like the "traditional Highland kilt" (which was invented by an English Quaker).
I'm gonna carry my Buck fixed blade instead of a traditional sgian dubh, but I may get a leather sporran.

Tartans were a way for people to identify clans, and there were non-clan tartans...and they used wool because...it was fucking scotland, and all they had was "cold" and "sheep".

An actual wool "great kilt" wouldn't be bad at all during fall and winter outings.
Its essentially a 6 to 7 yard wool blanket you can wear.

Modern kilts are for looks, not practicality.
