It's also international with millions of fighter. It's nothing like what you see in movies like "Role Models" there's no magic or fantasy, and the rules are oriented towards realism and safety. You won't break bones, usually, but it does hurt and you work your whole body.
At the big events we camp out and drink all night and fight all day. There is a medieval theme to it and most people have fighter names and garb, but it's pretty of a historical reinactment than larping.
