How much are your sandals /out/?

Just copped for half the price over on the bay. Don't give two fucks about looks now that I'm 30. These things are pretty damn nice.

For a while and strictly with socks, that's plastic and the heat will glue your foot to the sandal, and those straps will cut into your skin.

I only wear mine for water activities. An old pair of Keens are the only ones I have. Tried some Crocs boating ones and they're pretty shit. If I had to get a new pair of water shoes I'd pick Astral, Columbia, or Keen. The Chinese knock-off shit will not hold together in salt water and I might as well be wearing tire tread sandals at that point.

I'm wearing wool socks and boots for everything else because I have flat feet and can't enjoy sandals like a normal person.

I always bring a pair with me that I made on my own from leather scraps and other junk around the house. They aren’t my first choice for heavy hiking but they are what I like to wear when I’m fishing, kayaking, or just around my base camp. I honestly like being barefoot as much as possible so sandals are my go to shoe.

Pic was taken in southern Colorado. They are hands down the most comfortable hiking footwear I've worn. I've summitted 11 14'rs in chacos and have logged hundreds of miles in them.

Tried my Chacos in Olympic National Park and it was a huge failure. I had to stop every 100 yards to fish stones or from under my foot. The only time I'll wear Chacos on a serious trip is when I'm canoeing. Otherwise, I'll wear them for day hikes where I know I won't be catching stones.

If I'm carrying sandals I bring the plastic version of b Birkenstocks. I bought them with the expectation they would be more than overpriced shower sandals and they weren't. I wouldn't recommend them for anything other than wearing around camp or a shower at the YMCA. For that purpose, buy something cheaper. Mine have a tear from gentle use.

It's been two thousand years, they're available in pleather/nylon now, still fully LARPable.

They're comfier with socks as it cuts down on the sweating, take off your socks to cross water and put them back on when they're dryish, or if your socks are wool just say fuck it and leave them on. Pebbles and small rocks are also less of an issue getting stuck if you're wearing socks, and you also avoid the funky sandal tanlines.

I got a pair of astral loyaks. Best god damn water shoes I've ever owned. They are my every day shoes now. Found a second pair for 20 bucks on clearance so I can have a nice pair and a set that I actually use in the water

damn, those look pretty nice, I think if I put in a vinyl tuffy liner under the insole to deal with thorns, they'd be almost perfect. Very few sandals deal well with thorns, especially cholla cactus thorns or mesquite thorns, those fuckers will go through almost anything.
