Does anyone have any recommendations that are good for long distance running or long backpacking trips? I've heard Merrell Vapor Glove 3 are pretty good but I want opinions from the professionals.

I was wearing some vans high tops for hiking/hunting. It was a nice kinda one step up from moccasin feel. Fucked my feet up. Have boots now.

Wore these on my last 4 day hike with great success after using it as a day hiker for a while. I guess it depends on how long a trip you consider long distance and what kind of terrain you are expecting.

I love the trail glove shoes for daily wear, but dont recommend them for long distance hiking or any trail running. You will bruise your feet unless you get something with a little more cushion/protection

I have these as well and they have very little cushioning compared to even NB minimus. And they tear fairly easily. Feels like wearing nothing, but yeah probably not ideal for anything strenuous. Fine for my casual trail running/backpacking

My Saucony trail runners have really stiff soles, are super light and have a really aggressive tread. I feel fully stable running down muddy hills in the rain in fact. They also don’t look half bad and I wear them around town pretty often. Put a lot of miles on them and they’re holding up well, pic related

Based. They're durable. Put on 200+ miles last summer and the sole hardly looks worn at all. Dry fast too, nice for crossing streams. I bought the mid top shoe during one of the online sales this year.

The trail gloves are better for light hiking but I would stick to some more solid shoes with more padding like lightweight boots

always had trouble with footwear. My requirements for shoes are being able to handle 8+ miles a day of walking up and down nearly vertical talace rock slides. No matter what shoe I use I always end up with ingrown toenails

I have two pairs: some trail running shoes from amazon and then a proper keen hiking boot. I very rarely wear the latter; it’s heavy and bulky. It only comes out during hikes with a lot of mud or rain. Pic related are my trail runners. Hiked well over 200 miles in these things along with a shit ton of miscellaneous running, walking, etc....

I rebought them already but I’m still riding the old ones into the ground before breaking in the new ones
