Yay or Nay?

Building a light hiking pack / daypack. Based on 10 liter rolltop with Molle attached pouches for different gear-set. Idea being that I can hike to a base-camp with a larger pack with the pouches attached to it and the roll-top attached to the pack and then do day-hikes / trips with the pouches mounted to the Roll-top as needed.

the DP10 (I'm assuming that's the model you're talking about since it looks like that's what is in the picture) isn't exactly the most comfortable pack since it is so bare minimum (I will out of the gate recommend against the shoulder pads they have on Varusteleka since they do nothing but waste 20 bucks and the pack is tolerable without any padding) but I guess it works in the role of a daypack to carry some water/snacks and to hold clothes and I've used it as a detachable daypack a few times.
But weaving MOLLE straps constantly is a huge pain in the ass so I don't do that.

If you haven't bought anything yet there are probably some other interesting smol daypack/rucksack combinations to look at like the Tarahumara pack from HPG or something (if you don't mind the price hike, in my case it was just a pain in the ass to get one), that'll also attach to just about any MOLLE pack you could attach a rolltop MOLLE bag to.

Look uh, it's nice you're into the whole outdoors thing, but it doesn't make much sense to hoard all that gear if you don't have a clear need for it or an experience based need for it.

-You've got three light sources when in the Finnish summer you're largely fine without any at all.
-You can sit anywhere in the forest, you don't need a stool.
-You can eat straight out of the Trangia pots and pans, you don't need separate things for that.
-About 30 meters of rope? Are you going to tie up someone in a kinky way?
-Two medkits, when you probably don't need any?
-What do you need a dump pouch for? I mean sure I used one, but that was when I was in Afghanistan, for empty magazines.
-Solar panel AND a power source? I turn off my phone when I start the trip and turn it on when I'm going home.
-Tablet?
-That skrama is pretty heavy, but you want to take that and a knife? A small axe would be lighter than that thing.

Do you live close to the capital region?

it can get pretty dark though, also fall and spring.

The Jaakari M is only 30 litres, so it is deceptively small. I bought the Jaakari L which is 50-80 litres for £50 at a car boot sale and it is by far the best bag I have ever owned.

What is the point of this when compared to something like an Osprey pack? I've used mine for a decade and it's held up perfectly fine and been fairly water resistant and light weight. I've never seen people in Colorado with these heavy canvas setups, yet lots of people in central and eastern US tend to do this and have tarps for tents. I've thrown my osprey down hill sides, slid on it, and the thin fabric has held up fine.

He provided his opinion and then threw some shade "Look uh, it's nice you're into the whole outdoors thing," implying that he had no experience camping, then asked if he was "from the capita area" as usual in any country there is a divide between country folks and city folks in Finland, this question implied that he though he was from the city and therefore bad at nature or whatever.

then the response threw some shade back along with addressing the criticism. Then the other guy got mad and lost the argument.

Fucking love Iceland. If you're staying a night in reykjavik go to Centerhotel Thingholtf for lunch, their fishsoup is grade A+. But don't book a room, I couldn't fit o sit normally on the toilet in our room and had to sit almost sideways because of shitty bathtub placement and toiletpaperholder was right where your knees would have been normally. And their Spa is a joke.

It's purely an aesthetic thing. These packs are less functional, less durable, and heavy compared to modern internal frame backpacking packs. People like them, because they look cool and they have more fun using them and that's totally ok. It'd be nice if they were honest about it instead of memeing about "muh toughness" like >>1520272
