Would like to move out of my parents house some day, and definitely want to leave Florida.

Would love to move to a mountainy place, but where?

Where can I find a small mountian town that has jobs available?

Would be even better if it wasn't a flyover state, or AT LEAST something bordering Canada/on the coast but I'm already asking a lot.

Suggestions?

Can't be picky about that. Small mountain towns are nice, but jobs are slim to none (especially for electrical engineering, what I do) out there.

CO has a lot of job options, and anywhere in the metro area you're an hour from the mountains. I drive 2-3 hours in the winter with a snowmobile that gets me way the fuck out of town. CO's turning into a communist state though, politically. Oil/gas, tech, R&D, network/IT, aerospace...
Utah too. Culturally it's a little different (SLC is -very- mormon). Tons of recreation options there, some great sledding and dirt bike trails that way.

Wyoming has a ton of oil/gas, mining, agriculture. Montana's similar.

Micron Semiconductor has a plant in Idaho.

Bird kinda unrelated.

Woodland Park Colorado

1. It's sandwiched like 1/3rd of the way between Colorado springs and Denver
2. It's a great place to gear up before heading into the front range of the Rockies for some camping
2a. Skaguay reservoir is 20mins away, which is the northern entryway into a 12 mile stretch of awesome valley for hiking and camping.
3. Big town with small town feel. (Not too big though), 1 big box store, Walmart.
4. Plenty of other smaller towns around, but Woodland park is pretty young and new businesses are popping up every day.
5. Located on the Northern side of Pikes Peak, so it's basically situated perfectly as a jumping off point for any foray into the Rockies.

I will be riding there for lunch tomorrow. It is a neat town, but I can't really speak for the job situation there. Depends on what OP wants into.
