Hi, /fa/ggot here but also have hiked and like the outdoors. Could you guys recommend me a pair of hiking boots that are good for both walking around campus and hiking?
I'd prefer not to look like a faggot tryhard or hiking poser if at all possible. Sub $200 bc poorfag.

Go for military boots. I use them for literally everything, they're lightweight and waterproof, while looking professional and being extremely durable. I've used em for wearing a tuxedo and for going on a three day hike. They look good as long as you keep em clean, believe me or not

Merrellls are a good call but honestly with a $200 budget just go to a store and try a bunch on and pick one that's comfortable. You don't need a super heavy duty, stiff soled trekking boot unless you're carrying a legit load. Go with something similar style at least to the Moab 2 eg built for hiking but not overbuilt.

Wrong on the samefag assumption. I wear mine year round, including in snow, but it would depend on how cold. I've lived in an area where it's so extremely cold and so much snow you'd need insulated Sorels instead.

I am going to assume your definition of hiking is different from what the people on this board actually do so just get yourself any pair of sporty cross trainers and you’ll be completely fine.

They are also made to be worn with certain socks otherwise your feet and or ankles are going to get fucked up. It’s a specialty tool and overall kinda silly to try and make a hybrid out of. I have hiked hundreds of miles in just regular running shoes and unless you have bitch ankles that is what I would recommend. If you’re really set on the hiking boot, try and find a single color Timberlands style boot which I guess could be kinda fashionable. Pic related is kinda what I’m thinking

Don't do this, good hiking boots have softer rubber soles that are intended for walking and gripping on natural surfaces. Wearing them on pavement & sidewalks daily will wear them down faster.
Separate your /out/ and your casual footwear, they'll both last longer and you won't have to worry about looking like a sperg.

Aw shit, are you in one of the contracted lodging vendor deals, park maintenance, or what? My ex wife worked for whatever shitty company was contracted at the lodges back then. I lived in West Yellowstone and worked at a snowmobile rental, motel, IMAX, and Running Bear Pancake House. At that time the annual tourist count was half (literally, 2.2 million, now 4.4 million) what it is now, but I'm sure the daily world you are seeing there is spectacular, because it's fucking Yellowstone.
