>>1530994Steel-tipped staff and knife. revolver if there's some special threat (for example a rabid lynxs some months back), but usually I leave it at home as it just gets in the way and I'm more effective with my staff anyways - Stabbing a throat-sized area at 2-4m is just as fast as drawing and firing my gun, and there's no risk of getting a malfunction or fumbling.
>>1535654>They're not used that much, and they mainly fill specific roles, and there's a reason for that.Dude, look at what roles they are used for. Shotguns are used for close combat due to their stopping power. Which is exactly what you want for selfdefense. Who cares about mag capacity or effective range? If somebody wants you dead from long range, no gun will save you anyways, since you won't have any chance to use it. If somebody comes at you at close distance (or if an animal charges you), your only option is to dump your magazine and hope it's enough. Emptying a semiauto with 15-30 bullets is unrealistic unless you have full auto, and if you can just get off five or six shots in the first place, why not choose the largest caliber possible?
>>1535667>problem with them is the ammo capacity. >Which is more important than you might think in self defence. What kind of self defense? I have yet to see a scenario where anybody (including the two cops I train with) manages to get off more than seven shots off before the attacker gets into grappling distance and the gun becomes virtually useless. my own average after training for two decades is five shots, and most "trained" and CCW licensed gun owners (including security and military guys) coming to my courses don't even manage to draw their guns from a concealed carry before they're taken down and stomped.
