Hello /out/

I and some buddies are camping over the weekend.

The only thing I'm planning to eat other than hot dogs is Heinz baked beans.

Have any tips on what to eat?

Pasta and sauce is EZ. But can be a bit heavy if you are hiking in.

Light stuff that is tasty is the Knorr's style pasta packets. So is bagged ramen. Oatmeal is also pretty great.

For meats, corned beef hash and spam are both good and don't require cooler space. Spam is pretty great when thinly sliced and fried.

You can skip the veggies, chives and substitute the vinegar with mayo, so basically its: pork loin, onions, mayo, pepper and salt. Leave it over night. Serve with bread and ketchup. Cucumbers/tomatoes go very well with this.

If it’s ez camping bring shit you can foil-bake in the fire, easy and satisfying. Potatoes are the standard.

If you’re more worried about weight, dried shit. Dried fruits and jerky, maybe some triscuits or some shit.

That’s fine for a night or two and fantastic if you’ve got alcohol and friends family involved. Likely get old and be a drag any longer than that though and I hope you at least brought something else for breakfast

pasta with meatballs. get something the fits in your pot without having to break it (so no spaghetti), make some meatballs beforehand and freeze them, bring tomato paste and Italian seasoning. boil the pasta, and put the meatballs in a few minutes before it's done, then strain everything, add the tomato paste, lots of seasoning, and enough water to make it saucy. salt to taste and you have pasta.

Go full meme and take any of marshmallows,
instant oatmeal packs, granola bars, trailmixes, peanut m&m's, bacon, jerky, ramen, tortillas+cheese+salami, instant potatoes, and whatever else.
You can also buy a sub sandwich at the grocery store and take that, I suggest pastrami or italian.
Don't forget drink packets and a small towel/handkerchief.

Usually I bring Ramen, eggs, and spam. I motorcycle camp so weight isn't as much of an issue though.

Pasta is always a good option. I find egg noodles to be the best but anything dry that you can boil water to make will generally be pretty good. As other anon said, eggs are great. So is sausage and bacon. Coffee in the morning is great to wake up to, but it all depends on time, mileage, weight, gear, etc

My go to for canned food I Wolf Brand chili that I can buy at Walmart. I'm not sure where else it is available and it seems to be only and american thing. It's really quick to cook and easy to clean, especially the beanless chili. Also tastes good uncooked.
