hey /out/ i dont post here much but i just came here to ask something

depending on if a certain event happens or does not happen i will be traveling to Russia via bike. i just came here to ask what i should bring?

i cant have a gun at the moment so just an fyi.

so far i have this list: 6L water bottle. Food rations, i'll make some longer lasting foods. A hatchet, flashlight, lighters/matches, two sets of clothing + the one i will be wearing. Phone, charger, tooth care products, Toilet paper.

anything else?

not vary much. thinking of buying a tent too because money is also a bit of a problem. i wont have many options if the event does happen.

Definitely bring tools and spare tubes. Multitool should be enough, but a tire lever to change tires will help you out, too, if need be

Belarus is hard to get travel visas for. Also make sure that your Russian route doesn't take you through any ZATO cities - most of them are in Siberia but there are one or two in that area. You need to be on the Register (internal passport) to go there.

Watch Bikepacking shit on youtube abit,
learn what the absolute minimum you need is, because you will not need two sets of clothes, just a change of underwear.

Also get some fucking cheap cycling shorts, and talcum powder for your sweaty balls.

Learn as much as you can about basic cycling maintenance now, rather than stuck in a field trying to work shit out.

Speak to /n/ about setting up your bike for distance and comfort.

and maybe don't mention the Serbian revolution or whatever Coup your trying to pull off.

Don't forget spare spokes and a spoke wrench (included in most bike multitools).

If you don't have a bicycle yet - make sure:

1. dropbars or touring bars, bullhorn is acceptable too. You want multiple hand positions, mtb or cruiser bars WILL FUCK UP YOUR WRISTS.
2. Gears - the more the better, preferably you need 3 cogs in front.
3. Seat - either a good leather seat ($$$) or harder sporty one with a cutout. Department store cushioned seats WILL FUCK UP YOUR DICKLET. Hard seat will give you sore ass for a couple of days, get used to it before departure.
4. Wheels - 36 spokes, double-walled rims.

Go slow. I would start from 50k on a first day, then ride longer if you can. People go over 200 a day with some experience. Warm up your legs and shoulders before riding, massage your wrists. Carpal tunnel syndrome sucks, read about it. Your perineum should not feel numb, if it does - change your seat.

Yeah I was looking earlier this year and found out that I’m stuck doing France or Germany, because the rest of Europe is too busy finger fucking itself to build bike paths for Uni kids to gap year on.

You do realize you can cycle on pretty much any road, not just dedicated bike trails right? Infrastructure in Europe as a whole is good enough that you can virtually always avoid major highways and heavy traffic.

It would be a longer journey but you should definitely travel through Poland, Lithuania, Latvia as opposed to Ukraine and Belarus. Visas are tricky and expensive.
