Hey /out/,
imma go camping with friends this weekend. Unfortuneately they wanna do it at a camp site but i guess its better than nothing. Weather will be sunny and nice, since im in middle of europe the nights will be ok aswell. Now my question is, i only have a small tarp and a mil-tec poncho, which work good for a small setup, but how is camping etiquette? Will they call me out for not having a real tent?

I use small tarps a lot. If there forecast is clear just pitch it in a half pyramid. Super easy. Stick the low end into the prevailing wind. If you are nervous about a spot of rain try to make use of natural object to act as a door.

If they are your friends surely this is a non-issue. Just take the banter on the chin. I'm sure there is something you can use in rebuttal. Just make sure your confident in the conditions and your shelter's ability to keep you dry. Nothing is worse than rocking up with your tiny tarp, getting ribbed, and then getting soaked during the night.

First off, thanks for advice. I should have mentioned that i meant a public campsite, meaning we wont be the only ones there. So my worries were more about having trouble with campsite owner or something. Again, rain is not really the issue, its just the confidence of having a tent, but i guess im just anxious about what people think. thanks.

It rains all night and only most of my torso fits inside.

It's a kids tent.

It's not even made for outside.

Its just a wire frame and polyester cloth.

I threw riki torch fuel on it and burned it to the ground. Stole my buddys keys and slept in the truck
