A Marlin 336 or Winchester 94 in 30-30 is made to order for what you are doing. The longest shot you will likely ever get will be 100 yards, and that’s at the shooting range in the National Forest up there. You don’t even need to put a scope on it-all a scope will do is add weight and slow you down when you need to take a shot.
