Recently did a little backpacking trip out into the Green Swamp in Dade City. It was so fucking hot. Mostly equestrian trails in direct sunlight until we got to our camp site. Did a total of 15 miles in the overnight trip, but it was just so hot it felt like 30.
You know it's hot when even the animals aren't out. You could see where the boars had torn up the land a few days before, but even the birds were quiet. If I go again this summer i will be sure to only do shady, well covered trails.
Also, the bugs were BRUTAL. I used high DEET, deep woods Off brand and it only helped a little. I couldn't believe how bad the ticks were. Pulled two of the fuckers off of me. One dog tick and one lonestar that really dug his way in there. Pic related is me.
