Hi /out/, everyone loves a good hike up a decently sized east coast mountain. I refuse to believe that Tuckerman Ravine has the best scenery as a trail despite it being simple and usually busy...Which of you anons know the best Mount Washington trails out there

Anon so many people get hung up on elevation. It's a really cool mountain range and has just amazing and brutal weather. I spent 3 days hiking the Presidential Range and it was gorgeous. Being out in a lightning storm on Mt. Washington overnight is one of the best experiences I've ever had. The fact that there's no risk of altitude sickness and yet so many people die up on that mountain range says something. A summer thunderstorm can come out of nowhere and turn into sleet without any warning. Most days there's no visibility even when the weather's sunny beautiful everywhere else. It's totally a unique and worthwhile place to get /out/.

Except that the easiest routes on actual mountains are serious undertakings in and by itself. Just because you managed to find one tiny steep section on your local hill, that, if the weather allows for it, permits some ice climbing during the winter months, doesn't make it anything special.

only a daft tourist would hike up to washington expecting a lone payoff. madison, adams, jefferson, etc. are all part of the same range and even in the busy season nobody's up there. not a soul. it's fucking gorgeous and bleak and lonely on mt. adams and i love it, and it's only a day's hike to washington if you need to stop and wash your balls.

lions head is the best trail for washington. but the bes is the trail between washington and jefferson is heavenly.

but i hate washington in spring and summer. that last scramble to the crowded summit is fucking awful. i could not agree with >>1535448 more.
