Hi /out/,

I was curious if anyone here has experience with a Kelty Redwing 50 liter pack. I'm looking to get something relatively inexpensive for overnight backpacking trips to 3 day outings, and the Redwing looks like it could fit the bill.

Any bad experiences with them? Other suggestions in the price range? ($120)

Its a good quality backpack. I don't own one but the Redwing always reminds me of an obese daypack.

I like that. I figured it could double as a daypack when I want more cushion on my hips and shoulders. I typically use a 28 liter Osprey, but it's very minimal and I can't fit my gear for an overnight in there.

The environment (temperature, elevation, weather, etc) and your circumstances (what you'll be doing, how fit you are, whether you'll be carrying your own food, water, etc) have a far bigger impact on pack size than the duration of your trip.

I have the smaller Redtail 30 that I use for school and work and day trips. Kelty makes a good product. The only thing I can complain about is that the bottom isn't reenforced at all. It gets torn up pretty fast, but hopefully they'll have dealt with that on the redwing.
