Hey /out/! I was planning on going camping for about a week in Colorado. My problem is all of the good camping spots get really crowded during the summer, so do any of you guys know of a nice secluded (preferably legal) camping spot in Colorado?

Skaguay reservoir.

Red arrow is the road in, orange area is parking, green line is the dam, blue arrow is where you head in.

There's also a southern entrance to the valley down near Canon city.

From the top parking area, there's a gate (Like a car gate you can go under/over/through) that takes you down a path, this is completely legal to hike, just blocks motor vehicles. continue for 2/3 miles through the valley and it becomes a little more of an 'experienced' hike, this is as far as people usually go - but this son of a bitch goes on for like 12 miles and no fucking body hangs out on the south side. I've spent 4/5 days out there and never seen anyone - ran into a fly fisherman once. The tailwaters that come off skaguay are fucking packed with brown and speckled trout. The water is clean as fuck as well.

OP, there's a gadzillion good camping spots in Colorado, most of them free. Campgrounds suck. They're noisy and run by dicks. Try National Forest, BLM land, or State Wildlife Areas. The best to look for them might be websites about boondocking:

check out Lime Creek, out of Sylvan lake. hike up to any of the Lakes, with the best camping being at Fairview Lake. Went up there, no one around for miles because of some rough hiking. You could try New York Lake, but i hear thats hard camping.
