>>1542222They have good stuff, but unless you're kinda hardcore and camp all the time, I wouldn't go for the high-dollar stuff. My fiance and I camp A LOT, and we still snag a bunch of equipment from Wal-Mart. Some stuff needs to be higher quality for comfort or durability, but you'll only figure out what that means for you if you're out using it. Permanent stuff like tents and sleeping systems we go for nicer places, like REI and such; but we only found out what we needed to spend more on by breaking cheaper stuff.
For example, I've got a really nice pup tent for backpacking alone, that can fit myself, my dog and my pack inside; but when I backpack with her, we use a cheap 3 person tent from wally world that doesn't weigh much more (but I won't take her into as rough as places or weather as I would myself).
I'm at the point where I've got all the basics, and now I like trying out little gimmicky shit that people point out or design, just to see if it's fun. There's a lot of meme-caliber junk, but it's entertaining to play with once.
