Am I retarded from wanting to move from west canada (BC) to the Maritimes (East coast)?

The mountains and wildlife here are fucking great here however the type of people who live here and the amount of tourists makes me want to shoot myself.

Yea, BC is the best province to live in, hands down. Best driving policies(except ICBC ) bust gun laws, and the best /out) ING in the whole fucking world , people pay thousands of dollars to form here to camp and hunt and fish, make use of it anon

Just get away from Vancouver/kelowna/Victoria etc. The province is like 4 times the size of the uk with a tenth the people, if you're running into tourists you aren't far enough away from the city.

This. If you don't like where you are in BC you are simply too close to Vancouver. Everywhere else, well except Victoria is based. Move a little north.

East coast is highly underrated. Nova Scotia is home and has a lot of cool out opportunities. You just need to know where to look. I’ve lived in the west as well. They both have their good and bad points. Not sure what your outdoor interests are but we have a little bit of everything to offer. PS. NFLD is the Alaska of the east. World class hunting and fishing and the people will give you the shirt off their back

I would take the Maritimes over BC.
The Maritimes are damn beautiful, and the people, THE PEOPLE are the kindest I've met across all the provinces. Very laid back there, at Tims they'll get to your coffee when they get to it, they aren't always in a hurry.
Land is cheap as hell, particularly in NB. It was at one point a thing to go make dirty oil money for 5 or 10 years and then settle down on massive acreage out east.
You may miss the mountains though. Cape Breton has the highlands and Quebec is near by but it won't be the rockies.

Move to northern BC. The eastern provinces are beautiful to visit, but the whole place is just...depressed. The economy hasn't had a major driver for decades and you can see that in the infrastructure and the peoples habitats.

Tl;dr move to Prince George or something and get a trades job.

I live two hours north of Vancouver, admitibly idk if I can live in a frontier town. I enjoy the outdoors but I have other hobbies/sport aswell. I'll look into it though.

Sounds great, I think i'll have to take a visit later this year to see if I will enjoy it.
The history, culture and people of the maritimes is super compelling for me, i's just the lack of jobs and mountains that i'm hesitant about.

I moved here in 88. Not pre Expo yes but way before social media was a wet dream. Just get away from the people and it's still beautiful. This province is huge and I can goe days without seeing people. I don't have any social media, I don't know what that's about really. Don't do the Grouse Grind.

I don't know about Canada unfortunately, but in the US, the East Coast is fairly universally superior to the West. Weather's a bit worse I guess, but you aren't missing much.
