First time in about 10 years I'm going overnight innawoods tomorrow. Bushwacking to a high alpine lake.

I've got food, fire, tarp,sleeping pad/bag, fishing pole and lures.

Any advice for me?

The carbine was made to use disposable magazines and to be fired rarely. When modern shooters put an above average amount of shots through it and then use antique or cheaply made magazines again and again, it's a recipe for disaster. It's a great gun, but it's very unreliable in feeding in a way inherent to the weapon.

Fucking Christ, OP. I take back what I said about the bigger gun. At minimum you need a battle rifle plus secondary in .357 plus. A Gränsfors Bruks SFA too for good measure just in case they get within melee range. Make sure to coat the surfaces in ash. I don’t know what you did to draw their attention but you can never be too careful with all these skinwalkers out to get you.

The only malfunctions it has ever had are failure to feed from rnds getting stuck on the bottom of the feed ramp.
It will feed 100% of the time if the you put slight pressure on the back of the magazine so that that rounds hit the feed ramp at a good angle.
Going to use steel epoxy to try and build up part of the mag well about 1/2 mm see if it fixes it.

You don't NEED to, but a rifle gives you that option. No need to cuck yourself by carrying a fucking shotgun instead of a rifle just because you "don't need to do that". Rifles also let you carry more ammo per weight than a shotgun does.

The /out/ down here is tight. Biggest worry is small non-grizz bears. I LARP with the 870 super magnum loaded with 3-1/2” 00 buck. Full choke puts 8 pellets on a paper plate at 40 yards. Rarely get that much open space. I’ll bring game shot for squirrels and quail too.

Of course a full sized .45 on the side, just because I can.

The red spotlight mount and a coyote caller makes the night a lot of fun too.
