Though I think censoring that is still the wrong way to go, they should be allowed to say whatever and then disputed.
The other side of the coin is that many people with what are considered extremist views like his also have strong opinions on how much people they disagree with should be allowed to say as well. Complaining you're not allowed to be openly racist enough and then turning around and crying that gay and trans people no longer hide who they are is weak sauce.
Full openness is the only way.
