>look for places where the river current slows, gold / other heavys will drop out here
>look for bedrock, clean out cracks down to the bottom, gold is caught in them and slowly works its way down
>look high and low, look high on cliffs and bedrock for areas where large river stones have been deposited, this is where the river either flowed in the past or where the highest flood was, often large gold can be found here.
>look where others havent, check every creek and feeder for signs of gold
>other minerals such as galena (lead and silver), tungstan and platinum will be found in the same spots gold is, if your finding these than gold cant be far away
>not every region has the correct geology for gold, so look up the geology of your region to make sure your not wasting your time.
