I've had little luck discussing my grow on /an/ and I find a lot of threads are not specifically about edible growing. That's mainly all I'm interested, although I did plant spring flowering bulbs last fall. I'm especially curious to hear from other big city dwellers who garden in apartments or other limited space settings.
I have two locations of plants currently growing OUTSIDE. The first is outside my windows on a ledge. I have a cranberry bush with tiny little green cranberries going in a 12 inch plastic pot. I also have a huckleberry bush that I don't think is gonna fruit this year. I also have 4 purple basil, variegated sage, and dill that got biiiig and is finishing up flowering for now I think.
I also have a meyer lemon dwarf tree, a kaffir/thai lime tree that both are currently in the early stages of fruiting I think.
I have pandan rhizomes that are starting to green up I think that I got from Thailand.
I also have a bay leaf and lemongrass plant, both from starter plants purchased last spring.
That's just outside my apartment window.
I also have a community plot with 4 orange and 2 purplish heirloom tomato plants, 4 eggplant, 4 rhubarb, 3 thai chili, 3 ancho, 4ish tomatillo plants, 2 strawberry, and 2 kale plants.
I add compost every 2 weeks to community plot and water it regularly.
I add Espoma fertilizers (citrus and veggie separately for lemon and lime) kinda every so often, maybe a small bit every 3-4 weeks.
I'm a neet and did this all myself (except paying for it).
Any other urban or edible gardeners here? I wanted something more specific than the grow thread. I know this is a slow board.
My question is this. My cranberry has these green shoots coming up. I can't tell if they are weeds or part of the plant. Are they new growth of the cranberry or weeds?
I've had a lot of struggles and I find gardening very rewarding.
