How do I into "innawoods"?
I'm 18 and have no objectives or goals in life and am looking for something to occupy time. I have a solid career in trades lined up, but nothing that I dedicate my life to. The only hobbie I have is weightlifting, and you can really only do that for an hour a day. The rest of my time is devoted to trying to talk to and/or thinking about girls.
And that's not good, and I'm obsessing over it. I constantly feel like I'm going to miss out on the prime of my life if I'm not constantly having sex which is unhealthy. I need something to do and I want to start getting out doors and by myself.
I have no experience with camping, and very little with hiking, but live in BC Canada and there's tons of potential here for it. I have a few friends that may be down to come with me occasionally, but they're not into it enough to rely on them to accompany me.
Basically, how do I find places to hike in an area I have no knowledge of? What type of equipment should I be taking?
What I think would be really cool is wandering through uncharted areas, but I can see that being very dangerous if I get turned around. There's tons of crown land about twenty minutes from my house, so I could go find wilderness pretty easy.
"urban exploring" is also really appealing to me. I live in a town of about 125,000 people. Is that large enough to start finding abandoned areas to explore? Is there some sort of website that catalogs places to explore? That'd be tight.
I have no knowledge about anything like this, enlighten me /out/
