I am looking for a new pair of hiking boots.
Full leather uppers that can be waxed and polished.
Maybe Scarpa or Asolos?
Dont know whats good these days.
Also i am in no hurry so what time of year will these go on sale?
I can probably finish the season with what i have but they are ancient.

Even a cheap straight razor works better than any of those fancy multiblade cartridge razors. They're also cheaper in the long run if you know how to sharpen.

I love my Meindl Island Boots. They are very sturdy i can wear them in the bush, on slopes of volcanoes and as normal Winter boots. You can put some crampons on as long the sole is still stiff enough but i wouldnt recommend them for extrem mountaineering. Resoling is possible and you got a nice warranty on them.

slow board is exactly why redundant threads are terrible here. on fast boards like /tv/ or /v/ they'll fall off in a couple hours. here we're stuck with them for at least 3 days.

because i'd like /out/ to stay at least a little less shitty? and clearly you missed out on the era where there were perpetually about 9 knife threads, 4 axe threads, 5 shoe thread and 6 backpack threads, each with fewer than 15 replies. when the board gets flooded like that it slows already slow conversation, dilutes helpful information, and drowns interesting niche topics.

As a factory worker, i will say redwing boots are very well made. Ive had several that last years.
If you dont have $200, Walmart sells Brahman boots which are very sturdy (they were when i was a garbage man) but the drawback is the comfort. You MUST add insoles to them, because they are budget boots and they skimp.on the comfort side.
$10 insoles work well, +$30 for a pair, and you have a good boot for less than $50.

Personally i like the redwing medium height mesh/leather. It keeps my feet cooler than all leather.

I dont mind reading your posts but i disagree with coralling post in to general threads and i think it really decreases the quality of the board so every time you say that a thread needs to go in a general or be piggy backed onto another thread, we will have this whole discussion again.
I like having more yet shorter threads.
Once a thread hits more than 60 or 70 before i have seen it, i dont bother opening it because its too much to reading to get up to speed.
We have differing opinions on what is good for the board.

DSCP hot weather boots. Altama sole, drain holes, can be repaired and breathe very well. Comfy when broken in, haven't found a better boot tbhwy.
