the only way to eliminate lyme is to eliminate ticks. the only way to eliminate ticks would be to eliminate their hosts, but keeping a quarantined reserve population. this will include birds and reptiles, which also commonly get ticks.
build a few compounds to hold 1,000 or so of each species we can, and exterminate the rest.
a benefit of this would be that we will also rid ourselves of things like plague, mosquitoes (whose larvae are actually integral to most food chains the world over) rabies, mange, giardia, and a wide host of other zoonotic diseases, parasites and pests.
we have the technology. all we need is the money and the permission.
