So this is everything I put in my backpack. What more do I need to camp for at least a week?

That is painfully obvious. At least get a poncho, as you can risk freezing to death without one. Also, ditch the fingerless gloves.

As for the backpack thing, I use a Rush 72, which would easily fit all of that and more, but that's just me.

You need fire, shelter, water, food, a basic first kit, and dry clothes. If it's your first time, a week is a bit long. I'd advice a single night to begin with, and not too far away from home. But this is a good start! You are expanding your horizons and willing to take that first step.

Get the gear anon recommended and honestly like he said your best bet is a just a single over nighter. Learn about your gear and what works for you.

I’d advise to get an I exspensive backpack for now just to get a feel for things and if you even enjoy camping that much before shelling out for a good backpack. My current bag was about $120 but you can certainly go for a much less exspensive one.

OP here,
I must say I already have a backpack that can fit everyhing shown in pic related and more.
Thanks for the advice and yeah, maybe a week is too much. A single night will be much better for starting.

Drop the butter and steak knoife, mason jar, scissors, the 6 cotton socks and get a pair of wool or synthetic, the fingerless gloves, one watch and the tissue paper. Leave the razor blades at home too, shaving is for homos.

Get a 1.5L plastic water bottle, foam pad, blanket or sleeping bag and shelter. Shitty tarp can suffice. Happy camping.

- cotton socks are shit, get wool (thin for summer thick for spring & fall)
- extra shoes / boots for while the others are drying
- iodine, chlorine tablets, sort of water filter, or a way of boiling water
- way of making fire
- sleeping bag & something to shelter in
- the tins of catfood are good for a emergency but you might want a better meal plan for a week

just naming a few things, but you got more to plan out
start off overnight and build yourself up to a week there bud

At least a foldup saw. Ways to process firewood in general. A foldup saw and some small pruning sheers will make your life much easier (and safer) when processing firewood. A couple Bic lighters. Wrap them in duct tape. Useful and good tinder. Some man-made tinder. Alchohol swabs work great and are dual purpose. Petroleum jelly Neosporin Works great. Also dual purpose. Add those and some bandaids and you've got yourself a fire kit and first aid (boo-boo) kit. A headlamp with spare batteries.

Also, a map and compass. Spend 10minutes on youtube learning very basic land navigation. A lot of people SAR Find are like a 10minute walk from a road or trail. Being able to just point yourself in a direction and stay in that direction will generally go a looong way

Also, a single-walled stainless steel container. Thermally disinfect water and to cook. Wouldn't hurt to get a filter but budget wasnt mentioned. A good fixed-blade knife. A lot more cordage.

Thanks for letting me know what do I need and what don't. Yeah 1 casio out, fingerless gloves out, razor blades out and more. I like packing cans because it gives me security If I can't find nothing hunting or fishing, I don't care about being light and shit.
The 3 knives are for fear any of them breaks. They don't take too much space so I'm not really concerned. I'm gonna need something for sleeping, a flashlight, a big knife and a canteen.
Thanks for helping anons, I'll keep updating to see if finally my backpack becomes practical.

if you do stay out longer than 3 days, just grab a couple of cans of hash or beans or something. If you're pretty sedentary, you can skip the first 24h and last 24h and OMAD for any days in between.
If you are active (hiking 12mi distance a day at least), eat noon and evening a can each and bring a gallon water per day.
