While I don't have a problem with never eating them, I find it hysterical that there are people who insist they taste terrible, just to discourage people from eating them -- not that you did.
But seriously? Resorting to insult because you don't think people should do something? Why not present actual reason and argument?
I can counter-argue: There are bass fisheries in which people were encouraged to take home bass in a dink slot (large enough to have had at least one spawn, smaller than a given size) which ended up drastically increasing the number of appreciably sized bass available to catch there. Previously, this same body of water had been catch and release only. It reduced the competition from smaller fish, enabling more fish the food to grow larger.
Also, while the texture and flavor are not the absolute best out there, it's still a damned fine eating fish.
