what counts as a hike? My friends out of state say a hike has to be up a mountain, but isn't hiking just walking anywhere outdoors? How are you supposed to hike in Louisiana where there are no mountains?

it's a walk if it's on a paved trail, or if the trail is wide enough to fit a cart. So gravel/dirt roads aren't hiking. When you go for a walk charting your own path, or following an unpaved walking trail, I count those as hikes. I don't give a fuck what anybody else calls what but if I say "I went for a walk" I mean I was on a road or sidewalk and "I went for a hike" means I went off the trail and mucked around in the woods.
