I have a sunbody gus I wear while kayaking, and I also bring a boonie hat and mosquito net for my head.

spraying "stuff" on your head (such as sunscreen or mosquito repellent) doesn't really work well. If you don't put enough on, the sh*t don't werk well,,,,,,,, but if you put a lot on, then it always gets in your eyes. So I wear funny-looking hats now instead.... But I enjoy the trip a lot more than without.

Also protip: get the mosquito head netting with the metal ring in it. Amazon sells it.

with a DIN 10 glass you can see pretty well if it's really fuckin bright outside. those goggles are considerably less DIN (3-5 probably) cause those are for gas welding/cutting.
A pair of glasses with din3 would probably work pretty well as sunglasses. Though it can be a bit dark unless there is blaring sun.
I wouldn't walk use them for very long periods though, I think you can fuck up your eyes if you have to dark of a glass

im really in need of a nice floppy wide brim hat that can be washed clean and keep my face and neck from being burned.

the Tilleys im looking at look nice but im not sure if their brims are big enough.

In cooler weather I often wear this bucket cap that was my father's. He kind of gave me my first tastes of getting out as a kid. He died a couple of years ago after declining due to Parkinson's. So wearing his hat is kind of like having a bit of him with me to share in my adventures.

Sometimes a Buff kinda tied in do-rag style to keep bugs at bay from buzzing my ears so you don't get that annoying "nnnnnnnnnnnEEEEEEEEEEEEEE" sound all the time.

Beanies or shemagh in the winter.

Wide-brimmed hat while paddling.

Usually a straw hat with feathers in it.

wouldn't recommend, just because they lose their shape the second they get wet, and you can't stuff them into your pack because the straw snaps and becomes useless.
I'm thinking about going bandanna to keep my long hair out of my face, in conjunction with sunscreen or something.

Welding lenses of pretty much any kind are designed to block IR and UV light. You can also get varying levels of shade to suit whatever you want to do. Level 3 are not much different tahn a pair of shades.

I use this. It's utterly fantastic. Wore it once up a glacier in Austria, run out of water, took hat off, turned inside out, used as a bucket to melt glacial ice for water. Fucking fantastic.

i have started to look at the available options. spent a lot of time in their website, frustrated that everything seems to come in "old-man khaki"

then last night i was at a local gun store, and they happened to have a Tilley rack. i actually got to touch them for the first time... and they had one in a color other than "old-man khaki". it put the hat on, and it immediately looked right.

my wallet is now $106 dollars lighter (after tax, of course) and my head is happier.

tl;dr FUCK YES. I HAVE A NEW ADVENTURE HAT.

Also it's lightweight and rolls for easy stowage.

When returning to civilization I wear a bandanna, so as not to frighten or disgust townsfolk. Also useful for general hair control during multiday road trips, etc.
