Have friends who are using hand-me down coolers from the 70's. Coolers are weirdly enough a low-key heirloom item, as long as they are sturdy enough to not physically break there are few people who would go out and replace an old one.
Having said that, if I had a little more expendable income, and was in the need for a new cooler, I probably would get one of these because you can anticipate it being with your for year and years and years, which makes the cost seem much more acceptable.
