He's mostly, by far, going to be getting around with bicycle. That campus has *everything*, pretty much. I outfitted his bike with all this same kind of shit, bag with tools, all allen wrenches needed, tube, patches, pump, rack on the rear for carrying whatever, paracord for securing the loads, and a book on maintenance.
