Hey guys, does anyone have experience retrofitting a van to be a low end camper?

I really want a westfalia van, but I don't have much money. So the plan is to purchase a van of some kind then convert it.
I'm finding information on the internet confusing because the cost seems to vary by an unreasonable number plus all the stupid fucking vanlife youtubers making it popular. I just want easy as fuck camping.


Honestly the most important things for me are having a bed, and powered ventilation (that can last at least overnight). Plus lots of storage.
I also am a big fan of low maintenance and passive technologies/solutions.

What am I missing / are there any really awesome things you guys know of?
