I built a 2 foot tall cage for my box garden, but the plants are big enough that they're bursting out of it, so I removed the cage
almost immediately I started getting squirrels, chipmunks, and field mice ravaging my tomatoes, kale, and arugula
I've sat outside with an air rifle and popped about a dozen squirrels and chipmunks, and snapped 5 or 6 mice with snap traps laid outside what I think is their burrow
I have a fake owl staring at the garden and sprayed repellent around the edge, but the onslaught hasn't seemed to cease
do I just write off this year and build a bigger cage next season? is there anything I can do short of genociding every rodent in town?
