>>1589883They are there, you just don't see them. People get this impression from city park squirrels that they're friendly, easy to spot, curious animals. But city squirrels and forest squirrels might as well be totally different species. Forest squirrels are absolute cowards and will just stay on the opposite side of the tree from you if they know you're there. Stay totally silent, totally still, for like 20 minutes straight. Soon, you will hear rustling in the branches above, or nut shavings falling from above. Those are squirrels. They really are everywhere.
