I’m looking for a winter jacket.
A milsup store in my town received a load of M65.
Has anyone used it?
I like the detachable warm layer, for walking and camp.
I’m curious about waterproof qualities, and the possibility of using waterproofing spray on it

its not water proof, probably not even "water-resistant"
but water proofing spray will fix that no problem.

nice jacket if you want something heavy duty, rugged and durable like a tank.

everybody should own at least one.

M65’s are based, and even better winter jackets if you wear a sweater underneath. Other anon is right, not particularly good with water, but it’s nothing that spray can’t fix.
Also if you’re as big of a faggot as me you can put your /trailname/ on it.

Research online says once sprayed, it’s fine for light /intermittent not sustained heavy rain. I’m gonna go with spray + light ´running’ rain coat which I’ll throw over the sprayed M65. As much as a full-on rain armour is nice, it’s just too heavy and single-use for a trail

why not just get something made of modern materials? if m65s were better we'd all still be wearing them.

M65 are crap in my experience.
They really don't keep you warm and dry, even when sprayed.
If you have a backpack, it'll also feel really uncomfortable.
It also makes you look like a larping weekend warrior or hipster fashionista.

I used many jackets and yet I still go back to M65, dunno why.
Don't know about others, but in winter, with liner on, I only wear t-shirt under it up to -15C.
Btw, I wear cammo version /out/ because it makes stains & dirt less visible.
Wish it was water resistant though.

Any water-proof, light jacket would work fine, the challenge is finding one that's durable enough. You'll want to size up as well to allow for layers unless the jacket is generously cut.

If you're talking about a new M65, or "M65", there are tons of stuff out there that are waterproof and breathable, lighter, etc in that price range. Goretex has been the standard of this. But there are other things out there that are goretex-like in breath-ability and waterproofness. Dunno how important this really is for you though. I obsess over this because I'm from a very rainy place. But you may be better off getting more breathability instead of waterproofness.

Czech M85 with liner, best jacket i've ever had. Waterproof spray it, there's a lot of separation between the jacket and the fur liner so even when the jacket has been literally soaked the liner has somehow stayed dry. So fucking warm too.
