I don't go /out/ often at all, but my worldview has changed quite a bit and I find myself obsessed with the idea of getting out and exploring, setting up a fire in the evening and hiking in the morning. I don't have a lot of prime land nearby (great plains is trash) but we do have a few forests within an hour or two drive and I want to start dipping my toes back into nature to escape the hellscape of the city. Anyways, what activities would you recommend for someone who hasn't really enjoyed camping in the past that will make the solace a bit more enjoyable? I keep finding myself hung up on looking for ticks and swatting mosquitos instead of enjoying my time.
