Remington Fieldmaster and 1x Weaver scope.

Patterned after the Wingmaster, all controls and sizing are the same for cross familiarity. Pic of one from the mid-'70s. This ones a keeper! I bought the scope and rifle at the same show... after much combing!

I really like my chiappa little badger, loves every type of ammo I've fed it, fits in a pack easy, dirt cheap, tons of pic rail on it already etc but YMMV I have heard people complain about theirs rusting, I haven't had this issue.
I'm really considering getting a takedown or packable combo gun like the savage model 42 or the chiappa double badger but .410 seems like a shit cartridge and the 20g ones are harder to come by.

A Ruger 10/22. Parts are easy to come by so it’d make a good survival rifle. Really it’s just a good rifle to begin with. Or you could get a bolt action .22 if it was truly a survival rifle. There’s really not much that can break on a bolt .22

You can do a 10/22 take down, I like mine. But prefer the APG stock over the Fagpul.Packer. A suppressor is nice.

I keep meaning to get one of these for my BOB, because I've never actually 'needed' a gun in the woods, but a nice lightweight rifle seems like it would be worth the carry weight if I ever wanted something besides trout. I wish we had Eastern Greys here. Western squirrels are all mouse-sized.

No. A finger snap is the suppressed, a balloon pop is unsuppressed. Running standard velocity or hypervelocity through a suppressor isn't really the best scenario. Not hazardous, but less than ideal. Subsonic will get you the sound of the action cycling. That's best for me and reduces the need for hearing protection..

Faster ammo will leave you with that bothersome "crack". Not easily directionalized, unless you have a follow-up.

Nope, I did pist the pics, but not the link (which is accurate enough). I've also shot the Aguila Colibris from a 1938 Marlin pump (I love that gun!) and all you hear is the hammer drop! Until terminus and they still had enough poop to pierce one side of an old metal coffee can, dent the back and rattle around a bit.:)

50th for 10/22 takedown. Beware of the 25 round mags though, they're garbage.

Marlin 795 is also a good choice for price. Its 120 bucks and laser accurate but doesn't have an aftermarket.

Pro tip: when you get it drill a 1/4” hole in the rear of the receiver so you can run a cleaning brush through. Makes cleaning them infinitesimally easier

Not exactly true. I have great results with the Ruger, TacSol and even Butt Creek Steel Lips 25's.

Not as great with the Butt Creek Hot Lips and do avoid the Ramlines.

...and I collect vintage Weaver K-series 'scopes. Mostly K4s, but I've got a K2.5 (2.5x) with a post and a cross wire on a lever action Winchester 94-22M that is a little sweetie! The K1 was a great score and great vintage glass for that rifle.

Join us on /k/ fren. Also 10/22 is probably your best bet. You can get a take down model too if that’s your thing. I’ve handled an AR7 and they’re thicc nibbas, way too thick for my liking. Marlin Papoose is comfy too.

I'm not that other guy but The papoose is awesome, its essentially the 795 in takedown form. That pack rifle looks like fucking retarded s.o.y. shit though. No trigger guard, have to pay extra just to MOUNT optics, look at the egos lol, that fuck weird single shot action but don't worry for an extra hundred bucks they can sell you a shitty looking fishing reel you can strap to your gun.

It's a trigger mech inside an aluminium block with a barrel. It's basically the cardboard box and a stick version of a mouse trap. Will I? Probably not, I happen to prefer the design on the Lil' Badger. That said, I'm sure I could duplicate the takedown, barring that ridiculous fishing pole thing that screams 'chink shit!'.

Alright. I've ordered a barrel to restore for $27. That leaves me the aluminium block, fittings and mech. Some of this shit I'm going to have to source from scrap, but I think $23 is doable.

I'm probably not going to meet the 15.5 oz weight, just because I don't know enough to be able to thin the barrel much safely, but I should be able to get it down some. Besides, I said better, not lighter, and I've heard that the Takedown is notorious for barrel warp, so I'll consider it a win if it's still lighter than most pack rifles. Length won't be an issue, I can chop it slightly and the rearmost point of the barrel is where the break action is supposed to separate anyhow, so I should be able to get it down to almost flush to 16".
