Google search says that is Shenandoah National Park, which is in Northern Virginia. Looks pretty good to me.

National forest is the best place. Shenandoah is fine but it's crowded and costs money. Washington NF is free and you can hunt and fish and camp and gather mushrooms and have a campfire and you may not see another person at all.

There's plenty of nice hikes and scenic places. I came across a graveyard from the 1700s a few trips back.
You'll most likely see folks around the AT but that's about it.
Watch out for turkeys though. They can be assholes
