you making a very surface level argument and not thinking about what is actually going on. if you take Ash wood from one part of the country that is infested with emerald ash borer and move it to another part, you are transporting that bug, and therefore the Ash in that area will be decimated. there are tons of kinds of insects that can be transported and will do harm to new areas. this goes for a lot of different kinds of trees. a company might cut down a douglas fir that doesn't happen to have a douglas fir borer beetle in it, and transport it, and nothing happens. you might do it and transport the beetle, and lots of bad shit happens. you can't put an all encompassing outlook on this shit, there might be a bug on it and there might not, so in order to stop this terrible shit from happening, we cant fucking transport wood god dammit. this is so simple. the companies shouldn't be doing it either. i can't stand when someone makes an argument like "well this bad shit happens over here so therefore it's okay for everyone to do bad shit".
