Its just like with Bull Trout in the early 20th Century, Native as well, but considered a threat to Salmon. (AKA a scapegoat for logging activities at the time)
Many Non Native fish were stocked legally, in the last decade, and centuries ago. Common Carp and Brown Trout were intentionally bred, and distributed by the American Federal Government across the nation as a replacement to depleting stocks of fish.
I'm even talking About Hatchery Salmon and Steelhead.
It also wouldn't suprise me if it was your STATE fish and wildlife agency that stocked the Rainbows.
"Preserving" """"Native""""" fish that can no longer cope with the environmental conditions that we have imposed on our waterways is a waste of funds when we could provide better Fisheries with Alternative Species.
>>1601355This argument is perfectly valid. I'm more so complaining about how this argument is for whatever reason hidden behind the false narrative that there's some dire ecological need to preserve certain species that can no longer preserve themselves.
Millions are spent on Salmon fishing to provide the commercial industry with a harvest, and to earn additional revenue on recreational licensing on whatever the commercial fisherman and tribal fisherman do not catch.
