I'll visit Vancouver next June and am interested in hiking, outdoor stuff and generally seeing the natural beauty of the region
Any advice where to go and what to do?
I'll be there for about two weeks and I will rent a car and am not opposed to long road trips so anything withing a 1000km radius is fair game

Bumping for interest. I live in Seattle and would like to head up to Vancouver for some day hikes or overnight backpacking trips.

OP, check out Victoria too if you get a chance. It's on Vancouver Island and has bunch of famous hiking trails up the Western coast

Hi Anon, Sunshine Coast (one ferry north) has some beautiful hikes, Mt Elphinstone being one of the best. Lots of lakes and hikes even further north around Powell River. The other direction to go is east 600km from Vancouver and visit Nelson. The hiking and scrambling there is astounding. Mt Loki, Plaid Lake and Kokanee Glacier Park are all great and basically people free. Pic related

Seattle was probably the biggest letdown I experienced in all my travels. How can you live in this garbage city?

Hike crown mountain if you don't want to go too far from the city, it's pretty beautiful.

Also, check out Bowen island / other gulf islands, they have less elevation to the hikes but you still get good views, and they have some of the nicest people you'll ever meet. Hitchhiking is also huge on the islands, so if for any reason you don't have your rental car there don't worry, it's second nature to everyone there, and a great way to meet interesting people. I met a dude who ran a dynamite business and people who offered to take me on their sailboats and sail around the islands. Pic related, I took that on Pender island.

Also check out Vancouver island, there are some gorgeous places there as well. Go surfing in Uclulet, go to the brewery in tofino, or go up the coast of the island and check out the small towns and old growth.

I grew up there and helped build mountain bike trails for Suncoast Trail Society AND Sprockids.

Anklebiter/Stinger in the Sprockids park; Sidewinder/Pressuredrop/102/103/Red Baron/Guy's Gulch up Mt. Elphinstoned.

Live in Squamish thrse days. Mom passrd on this day last year, so thr family home there is empty(mostly) and up for sale.

Was up there for a week housesitting in Pender Harbor by myself but had some friends over. Pic related.
