>>1601930this. i despise the hipster fetishization of niche and retro clothing/culture. neo-folk and workwear aesthetics are especially disgusting because their strongest value is authenticity and straightforwardness - function, not form. designer-tainted outdoor gear and “blue collar” clothing is the absolute antithesis of that dynamic because it’s posing as something it isn’t, which essentially makes everyone who falls for the aesthetics meme (other than honest LARPers) ignorant and pretentious hypocrites. it’s arguable whether you can buy any identity, but spending hundreds of dollars on gear you’ll never use is especially pointless
