rabbitry

No.1604135 View ViewReplyOriginalReport
any /out/ anons raise meat rabbits? I'm moving back into the country soon and it seems like the most logical, cheap and healthy meat source are these little nigglets. The fish in the area are fucked with mercury unfortunately.
My question is, on average, how much meat (weight) do you get per head and how many heads per litter via a single doe? Name of breed and diet would be appreciated too.
I think I'll start with one buck and two does. I've watched the Living Traditions Homestead YT series on rabbitry along with reading some articles and they all list slightly different information about litter size and rarely mention yield per rabbit, which is odd.
Oh another thing, out of curiosity how do you dispatch them? The first thing that comes to mind is a .22lr to the head. Just because I eat meat doesn't mean I want to torture the little nigglets.
