This is when we first found them. The yellow one and one other are all that have survived the last 3 months. I think 2 drowned in a storm but the most recent must have been killed last week. Foxes, hawks, horned owls. You name it.

I’m not “raising” them there’s a small flock of muscovy ducks that live around the pond in my yard and the neighbors. These guys hatched out in the wild and had been following their mom around all summer. I was already feeding them all and so these young ducks learned especially fast to waddle after me all around the yard. Ain’t nature beautiful?

Well I’m not raising them (for eggs) is the key point. I’m clarifying that I didn’t buy or hatch them they are their own beings I just feed them grains when they show up.

That’s why I’m letting them breed and multiply so in 10 years I can have a giant flock of dozens of ducks. Killing any of them now would be (not only all too easy and unsportsmanlike) but detrimental to the flocks future growth.
