It's not very good to drink hot stuff from plastic.
But you're right, enamel is the comfiest option. Stainless steel is certainly more durable but enamel is not that bad in my experience.

No. You are not. The way that the lip is shaped causes a little bit of coffee to drip down the cup after every sip. It gets trapped under the lip.

Did you guys know you can powder coat stainless steel? This means you can get whatever stainless steel mug you want then be as artistic as you want to draw whatever on it with the powder coat then put it in an electric oven to finish it. Just use food grade powder coat.
