who else thinks about direction, orientation, etc constantly?

fun fact: navigation builds the same part of your brain that is needed to socialize. this is one of the theories as to why birds are more social than most animals. I wonder if electronic maps that take the thinking away from navigation will have an impact on the next generations proficiency at socializing.

i do. whenever im driving or walking around inside a building, im always trying to keep track of which direction is N, S, E, W relative to my position and direction of travel, and which way the building and rooms, hallways are oriented

How many folks here will use "turn north at the corner" rather than right, left etc... for normal directions in urban areas

I do this and also mentally keep track of where the nearest road is and what direction of goes to help keep oriented.

When I was younger I tried to get lost as much as possible in my city or on the hills nearby, never managed to really lose my position. And I live in a medieval center.
