>>1610338>>1610345Historically, the, "ulu," is the best butchering tool for this purpose. It is used for the entire operation of butchering the animal, scraping the hides, and prepping the food. You should always use a full sized ulu. Don't use those small ones as they are pretty terrible and do not encompass all the usual jobs a proper ulu can do. These are not western camps knives, they are just butchering/kitchen knives. So, don't expect them to be good for any other job.
Due to the form factor of the ulu being different from a typical knife, the cutting strokes you would normally make with other knives may not work and you will need to learn how to properly use the ulu. I suggest searching up as many videos of people using properly sized ulus for butchering and kitchen work. You'll then be able to see if they are something you'd want to use or not.
