I recently went on a course where a portion of it was to learn and use a compass. So now that I have the basics of how to use a compass, what would be a good one to buy? I'd like to know how to use one proficiently.

I used a camenga knockoff, so I'm partial to get the actual one, but what about a brunton? suunto?

For reference, I have used (and use) a garmin etrx hcx for the last 12 years. I just cross-referenced the coordinates to a map I pack around.
