Has any of you left everything behind (family, gf, work) just to move to a place that offered better /out/ than that you had access on your area?
Is it something that makes sense doing or is it foolish?

Doesn't even have to be a tech job or whatever.
My cousin grew up in a mid-Atlantic suburb, decided he wanted to live in Montana, decided he liked guns. Went to a community college to be a gunsmith, called some places in MT when he got his cert, and now he builds guns in the Beartooths.

Yes, under 30. I should move to somewhere in Scandinavia where I can see the northern lights and then start a new life there working on a kebab restaurant.

I'm more of the opposite, I'd like to move in with my gf because she lives right next to the Alps. I go there almost every week to see her and the mountains. Thing is, I will have to sacrifice my good paying job since it's only doable in a very large city.

Literally just did this. Moved to a much warmer climate from PA. PA is ok and all but gets boring after a few years. I wanted a switch, and to be near the beach and just experience a whole new biome. When i'm bored I'll move out west most likely.
