If you're not on a budget, really study the different options, and find what works for you and what you want to do. The anons talking about kayaks for long trips or overnights are correct, too, especially if you get one with a pedal drive. I don't have that option... yet. I have been toying with some ways to include foot powered propulsion. Those are also a thing of beauty. Transport is also something you need to consider. How will you get it to the location, and then from the car, how will you get it to the water? I hope you find a perfect fit. It's beautiful out on the waters of the world.
